Curran Bill to Transfer Marina to Freeport Passes Assembly
Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) is touting his efforts to transfer ownership of the Guy Lombardo Marina from the town of Hempstead to the Village of Freeport. Curran’s bill passed the Assembly, and it was carried by Sen. Kevin Thomas in the Senate, where it also passed. It will now go to the governor's desk for her signature. Once signed, this will enable the consolidation of services, improve efficiency and create new recreational opportunities for citizens. Freeport intends to improve and rehabilitate the marina, thereby offering additional recreational opportunities for residents.
“I am so happy to be able to report I was able to pass a bill transferring ownership of the marina to the Village of Freeport. This will allow for an even more enjoyable experience for all water sports enthusiasts of New York. This bill is the perfect example of village, town and state officials from both parties coming together to serve the best interests of the people of Freeport, and I was so proud to be able to lead this effort. This transfer of ownership will allow for an even more enjoyable experience for all water sports enthusiasts of New York. I know under Mayor Kennedy’s excellent leadership, the marina will become better than ever,” said Curran.
