Curran Honors Women of Distinction from Baldwin

Over the weekend Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) hosted his annual “Women of Distinction” event. This event is held to highlight the wonderful women who make the 21st District so special. Rosemary Scarola and Ginny Foley of Baldwin were among those honored. Rosemary began her public service by becoming involved in the St. Vincent de Paul pantry and the St. Christopher’s Feast. She is also the captain of the Meatball Booth. Rosemary is also very involved in the Bay Colony Property Owners Association as Beach Captain. Currently, she is on the parish council at St. Christophers, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and a member of the Hospitality Ministry. Ginny was president of the Baldwin Chamber of Commerce from 1997-2002 and co-president from 2004-2010. She owned and operated Sonny’s Canal House for over 19 years where she was named Baldwin Small Business Person of the Year. She has been honored by the Baldwin Foundation for Education and was named Woman of the Year by the Baldwin Republican Organization and Baldwin Herald.

“It is my great honor to recognize all these amazing and inspiring women. Often their accomplishments may be overlooked, but these women are not in it for the glory, they simply love their community and want to give back. So the least I can do on behalf of a grateful community is to recognize them. They are truly an example of what a great woman and citizen should be,” said Curran.
