Miller Passes Resolution Declaring March As Maple Month

Assemblyman Brian Miller’s (R,C-New Hartford) Resolution declaring March as Pure New York State Maple Month was passed today in the Assembly (K.144).

“There is much to celebrate when it comes to maple production in our state, and I am proud to declare March as Pure New York State Maple Month. Maple production is an important part of our agricultural sector, with more than 2,000 maple producers statewide,” said Miller, who is on the Assembly Committee on Agriculture. “This time of year is when maple trees are tapped and many maple producers open their operations up for tours and educational events. I encourage all New Yorkers to visit a maple producer during this season and enjoy maple syrup on pancakes and waffles.”

Nationally, the Maple industry has been growing at a seven percent increase each year. New York is second in maple syrup production in the United States and it is the first crop to be harvested in the calendar year. Maple products produced in New York State are estimated to be valued at $31.3 million.
