Miller Announces State Funding for Public Library Construction and Renovation Projects
Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,C-New Hartford) announced today that public libraries and library systems in the 122nd Assembly District will benefit from a total of $296,514 in state funding approved through the New York State Education Department and the New York State Library as part of the FY 2024–2025 State Budget.
A total of 212 public library and public library system construction projects statewide were approved, supported by a $44 million capital fund appropriation to modernize, renovate and improve library facilities across New York state. The funding supports a wide range of critical improvements, including facility renovations, energy efficiency upgrades, accessibility enhancements and safety improvements. Projects are reviewed with technical assistance from the New York State Library to ensure they are well prepared to receive bond funding through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
“Public libraries are cornerstones of our communities. They provide access to education, technology, workforce resources and safe spaces for residents of all ages. This investment helps ensure our libraries remain accessible, modern and able to meet the evolving needs of our communities. I am proud to support investments that strengthen these vital institutions and ensure taxpayers see real, lasting benefits,” said Miller.
