Miller On Weinstein’s Law Firm Contribution To Cuomo Campaign

A statement from Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I-New Hartford)

Yesterday, a story broke revealing Gov. Cuomo’s apparent interference in the New York Attorney General’s investigation into the Manhattan District Attorney’s handling and dismissal of a sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein. Months after the D.A. declined to prosecute, he was paid $10,000 by Weinstein’s attorney. Gov. Cuomo recently instructed New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood to halt her investigation just as the law firm that Weinstein’s attorney works for contributed $25,000 to Cuomo’s campaign.

Assemblyman Brian Miller released the following statement:

“This is abhorrent and unacceptable,” said Assemblyman Brian Miller. “The governor can try to spin this any way he wants, but it seems clear that he interfered with an investigation into the Manhattan District Attorney’s handling of the Harvey Weinstein investigation. Not only is this another example of pay-for-play coming out of the governor’s office, but a sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein was buried in the process. Our women and all New York state residents deserve better than this.”
