Miller End of Session: Accomplishments & Disappointments

A statement from Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I,C-New Hartford)

“While we were able to get a good amount of work done this year, despite the pandemic, there was definitely some bad mixed in with the good. I am pleased to see some movement in the push for getting broadband to all of New Yorkers through the Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act. It was also good to see Nourish NY get additional funding to help provide families in need with food while helping the agriculture industry in New York.

“Sadly, we saw a number of anti-firearm bills, including one which would negatively affect the Remington Arms Co Plant in my district. I am also disappointed to see the state Capitol still be closed to the public, preventing people from meeting with their legislators. Also, despite our push to remove emergency powers from the governor, we were unable to get the necessary support from our Majority colleagues to do so which is disheartening. So while there were some accomplishments this year, there was definitely more we could have done to help New Yorkers.”
