Embrace A Fresh Perspective, Pursue New Achievements In 2018
This New Year’s Day, join me as I celebrate another year ending and a new one beginning. While every day can be thought of as a new start, we should pause for a moment to look back and appreciate all of the fond experiences we had in 2017, and yet, be resolved to learn from our missteps. As we gather with family and friends, embrace the New Year with a positive outlook and a determined spirit to refocus our motivations.
A RESOLUTION TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL NEW YORKERS
As we look toward 2018 as an opportunity to improve ourselves, it is equally important that we strive to improve our communities and strengthen the relationships we have with others. It’s easy to take the people in our lives for granted, especially if we see them every day – at work, at home, in our neighborhoods. This year, take time to appreciate those relationships and strive to make them stronger, more resilient. I ask that 2018 be a year of cooperation and harmony.
In 2017, my colleagues and I in the New York State Assembly achieved great things for the people of New York. We worked to ensure direct-care workers earn a fair and living wage; pass a constitutional amendment to strip corrupt officials of taxpayer-funded pensions; make ride-sharing services available across the state; and provide an enhanced cancer disability benefit to volunteer firefighters. I assure you, we will return to Albany to continue to fight for the things that matter most to all of you.
During the 2018 Legislative Session, we will renew our push for policies that will improve infrastructure across the state, increase accountability and transparency in government, stimulate business and job growth and improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
USHER IN THE NEW YEAR RESPONSIBLY
‘Tis the season to gather with friends and family to reflect on the past and make resolutions to improve the future. Long after the clock strikes midnight, celebrations are sure to continue. Whether you’re heading to a party this New Year’s Eve or hosting your own holiday gathering, plan ahead to make sure you and your guests, as well as everyone else on the road, gets home safely.
I am certain that our great state is on the path to success, and I am committed to moving New York toward a brighter tomorrow. From my family to yours, have a happy and healthy New Year.
