Maher Eager to Make Budget More Realistic for New Yorkers
A statement from Assemblyman Brian Maher (R,C-Walden) on Gov. Hochul’s 2024 budget proposal.
“After seeing Gov. Hochul’s budget presentation today, I am eager to get back to work with my colleagues to make this budget more realistic for the people of New York. Specifically, investments in infrastructure for municipalities to address our housing crisis, investing in the expansion of childcare assistance and the creation of a new office for semiconductor management are all laudable goals I look forward to supporting. However, these investments, as well as many other policies outlined by the governor, won’t matter if the bureaucratic red tape from various state agencies is not addressed.
“I am willing to work with the governor and my fellow legislators to make a meaningful difference on the issues outlined in Hochul’s address while also addressing Albany’s out-of-control spending. There needs to be a balance and New Yorkers are counting on us to work together across party lines and find it.”
