Tague Announces Budget Priorities

Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) is pleased to outline his budget priorities with his peers in the Assembly Minority Conference for the 2019-20 budget.  The plan, ‘Budget Blueprint for a Better NY,’ calls on the governor and legislative leaders to enact common-sense, no-nonsense policies that would benefit all New Yorkers.

The measures outlined in ‘Budget Blueprint for a Better NY’ are:

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Make the 2 Percent Property Tax Cap Permanent

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Provide a Living Wage for Direct-Care Workers

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Keep the Middle-Class Tax Cuts on Track

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Increase Funding for CHIPS

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Increase Library Aid

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Provide Unfunded Mandate Relief

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Give Help to Small Businesses

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Improve the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) & Offer Student Loan Relief

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Call for a Hearing on Prison Closure Proposals

•Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Keep AIM Funding Levels & Processes Intact

“My priority as a legislator has always been to look after the people the governor and the downstate Majority have left behind,” Tague said. “It’s with that focus in mind that I am happy to see making the property tax cap permanent and providing relief for unfunded mandates as part of this plan. Upstate New Yorkers and small town governments have been left out of the discussion for far too long, and I’m calling on the governor and every legislator in the state to ensure that upstate gets its fair share and relief from oppressive policies that raise our taxes and drive our neighbors from their homes.”
