Tague Standing Up For Farmers

Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) has signed on to a letter of support with members of the Assembly Minority Conference opposing a bill that would unionize farm laborers. The legislation would grant collective bargaining rights along with myriad legal protections and restrictions on farmers that Tague is adamant would cripple generations of farmers upstate.

“This bill is unrealistic and dangerous,” Tague said. “As a former dairy farmer, I know the hours and the trials it takes to run a farm, the work hours and time you put in do not match with a usual work day. Those who support this bill obviously have no sense of what it takes to be a farmer nor care what this bill would do to the thousands of families that have operated farms upstate since before the revolutionary war. I am voraciously against this legislation and urge anyone who cares about where the food on their tables comes from to vote against it.”
