Statement From Assemblyman Cliff Crouch

January 23, 2008

The budget presentation by Governor Spitzer was a little disappointing, as he continues to spend too much and fails to provide tax relief. One of my biggest concerns is the governor increasing taxes on HMOs and healthcare organizations. Healthcare costs are already unaffordable for a great portion of our state’s residents and by increasing the tax on these organizations, the excess costs will be passed on to us, the consumer. I think the governor has some good ideas; perhaps he’s just a bit misguided. However, I look forward to working collectively with Governor Spitzer so we can put together a more fiscally sound plan for our residents. All political differences aside, we must come together to work for change.
