Crouch Announces Two Southern Tier Farms to Receive Funding In Statewide Push to Bolster Farmers

July 3, 2018

Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch (R-Bainbridge) announced today that two Southern Tier farms in the 122nd Assembly District will receive state funding to support new and veteran farmers. Lilley Farms, LLC in Chenango County was awarded $47,589 through the New Farmers Grant Fund to help assist in building and equipping a livestock barn and purchase field equipment to expand the farm's herd and increase sales. Robert Gary Lobdell of Chenango County was awarded $50,000 through the Veterans Farmer Grant Fund to build and equip a new livestock barn, renovate an existing barn, purchase field equipment and install fencing to expand his beef production operation.

The funding is part of a greater statewide push that this year alone has awarded over $1 million to farmers around the state. The New Farmers Grant Fund is designed to assist new early-stage farms while the Veterans Farmer Grant Fund helps our local farmers who are also military veterans.

“I am very excited to announce that these two local farms in the Southern Tier are receiving funding,” said Crouch. “As a former dairy farmer myself, I know first-hand the hard work and dedication that our farmers put in day in and day out. Farms are a major driving force and contributor to local economies here in Southern Tier and all of Upstate New York, ensuring their success will benefit our state as a whole. I want to congratulate our two local recipients and all the recipients of these two grants, I hope these funds will help bring prosperity to you and your families.”
