Despite New Branding, NY Still Worst Business Climate
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C- East Aurora), a small-business owner, says that despite promises from the governor, taxation in New York remains unchanged.
“We’ve been promised a ‘New New York,’ where businesses will thrive in the in-state tax shelters of START-UP NY,” DiPietro said. “All we have seen so far are gimmicks with flashy PowerPoint presentations. New York’s citizens and businesses continue to suffer. It’s time to make our state more viable for economic growth. A better business climate means better jobs, and better jobs mean a better economy.”
For the second consecutive year, The Tax Foundation ranked New York as having the worst business climate in America. In 2010, the state was ranked 49th. The ranking includes property, income and corporate taxes, as well as unemployment insurance costs.
Assemblyman DiPietro has authored multiple bills to help reduce the cumbersome rules and regulations that are binding the hands of small-business owners across the state, including a bill that would direct the governor to repeal 1,000 regulations directly following the bill becoming law.
