A Failure Of Leadership By The Education Commissioner
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) expressed his concerns after the state’s Education Commissioner, John King, canceled four upcoming forums regarding New York’s role in the Common Core standards.
“As a father and a legislator, the importance of these forums is self-evident,” DiPietro said. “The state education department made the decision to adopt Common Core; now, they owe our parents, educators, and community leaders an explanation of their plans for our education system. The people affected by this decision deserve to know. Commissioner King’s decision to cancel the remaining forums because of loud, forceful opposition is an unfortunate disservice to the public he represents.”
