DiPietro: One Year Too Many For SAFE Act
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C – East Aurora) today renewed his call for the full and total repeal of the controversial gun legislation passed last year known as the SAFE Act.
“For a year, this law has unfairly targeted law-abiding sportsmen, gun owners, and citizens seeking to defend their homes, property, and family,” DiPietro said. “The damage this law has done to our Second Amendment rights cannot be understated. As we approach the first anniversary of the SAFE Act, I remain committed to repealing this law. This year, gun owners will not cede another inch to those seeking to limit our most basic of freedoms.”
Assemblyman DiPietro is the author of Assembly Bill 6238, which authorizes a full, immediate repeal of the SAFE Act. DiPietro’s bill has also been introduced in the State Senate by Senator Kathy Marchione under the bill number S5591. This past weekend, Assemblyman DiPietro joined Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard, the Springville Field and Stream Club, and several concerned New Yorkers at “The Shot Heard Throughout New York State,” where sportsmen fired one legal shot marking their opposition to the law.
