DiPietro: Tappan Zee Bridge Deal Robs Upstate Waterways For Downstate Travel
A statement issued by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I – East Aurora)
July 28, 2014
The recent quarter of a billion dollar raid on the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to subsidize the Tappan Zee Bridge has endangered our waterways as well as the economic viability of the future of the clean water fund. The short-sighted, downstate liberals have no financial plan in place for the bridge to repay its debt to the clean water fund. This gross negligence toward our waterways and its effect on the environment cannot stand. All too often, Upstate suffers at the hand of Downstate bureaucrats who only know our communities as places to drive through on the way to Canada or Niagara Falls. Our communities and our environment deserve better than being leveraged on the back of non-existent financial plans.
