New Yorkers Wait Too Long For Tax Freedom Day
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) celebrated Tax Freedom Day, when New Yorkers have finally worked long enough to cover their annual federal and state tax burdens, by encouraging the legislature to enact more pro-growth policies.
“The economics of this are simple, a tax cut is a pay raise and a tax increase is a pay cut,” DiPietro said. “We’ve seen too many tax increases and not enough cuts. Thousands are leaving our towns, job creators are fleeing the state by the dozens, and our overbearing tax code and regulatory burden are stifling ingenuity and success. New Yorkers waited longer than residents of all but two states to reach this point. We need to enact legislation that supports the growth of our economy and keeps families here in New York. Let’s spend more days working for ourselves and fewer days working for bloated state and federal governments.”
DiPietro is the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Committee on Small Business.
