Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) is calling on the Assembly Majority to pass the agreed-upon pension forfeiture measure they promised to bring to the floor following budget negotiations. The one-house measure the Majority is bringing to the floor today has been watered down in an effort to prevent any pension forfeiture measure to pass the Legislature.

“For once, we had the momentum to do something on pension forfeiture for corrupt legislators, and the Assembly Majority purposefully went back on their word,” DiPietro said. “They agreed to the full pension forfeiture measure during budget negotiations, but pulled the bill at the last moment, and now are trying to pass a half-baked measure to say they did something. I’m not falling for it, and neither should anyone else.”

DiPietro is a sponsor of Assembly Bill 4659, which would require elected officials to forfeit their taxpayer-financed pensions following a felony conviction related to their office.
