DiPietro to Host Breakfast with Superintendents to Discuss Common Core, APPR
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R, C-East Aurora) is hosting a breakfast roundtable this week with superintendents from throughout his district to discuss the Common Core curriculum and the APPR teacher evaluations.
“I believe we are going to have a great turnout and will be able to discuss the issues concerning our education system,” DiPietro said. “These are the people being charged with implementation of any actions Albany or the Board of Regents comes up with, so to hear so many firsthand experiences will allow me to head back to Albany with an idea of how to better reform our education system.”
DiPietro is a sponsor of Assembly Bill A3656, better known as the APPLE Plan, which would put a stop to the Common Core curriculum as a comprehensive audit is performed. He also voted against a measure earlier this year to put control of the teacher evaluation process in the hands of the Regents with no cap on how much of an effect a student’s scores on the high-stakes testing could have on them.
