This week, Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) stood with representatives from both the State Assembly and Senate in favor of increasing funding for the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) by $250 million.

“Western New York deserves the same opportunity to rebuild our infrastructure as everywhere else in the state,” DiPietro said. “CHIPS is a vital program for our local communities, and is the only funding they get for road and bridge upkeep. The additional funds requested would provide upstate with the opportunity to properly care for our crumbling infrastructure. Additional infrastructure spending will be a top priority for me as we move forward on the state budget.”

DiPietro is a member of the Assembly Committee on Transportation. He sponsors Assembly Bills 9400 and 9435, which would allocate $1 billion for infrastructure improvements in Western New York, and would triple the current amount of CHIPS funding.
