Erie County Receives Grant to Fight Opioid Abuse among Women
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) is thrilled with the award of a $300,000 federal grant to help prevent the use and misuse of non-prescription opioids by women. Erie County has a serious problem with neonatal abstinence syndrome and this grant will go a long way to help local hospitals care for newborns who had opioid exposure before birth.
“The fight against the opioid crisis has always been central to my goals as a member of the Assembly,” DiPietro said. “This grant helps arm us with necessary tools and services to help those afflicted by this terrible epidemic and I am hopeful we will continue to make headway against it. By continuing to work together we can bring an end to the opioid crisis and save lives in not just our community but the country at large.”
