“The Assembly Health Committee met yesterday and bandied words back and forth about single-payer health care in the state. This would be one of the most foolhardy measures in recent memory; already our taxpayers are over-burdened and crippled with extremely high property taxes. It is estimated that this would place another $1,600 increase in income taxes on every New Yorker. How can we expect people who work hard, play by the rules and try to provide for their families to want to live here?

We can’t expect the hard-working middle-class families who have already footed the bill for illegal immigrants to go to college for free to cover health care for anyone and everyone who crosses our state borders. This is outlandish and foolhardy, a socialist paradise like Venezuela can’t succeed and do this but we’re the progressive utopia of New York, so we have to. There is nothing in the idea to protect the residents of this state or benefit them. We’re going to destroy the quality of health care for our children with this plain and simple.”
