DiPietro Calls for More CHIPS Funding
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) spoke about the need for increased investment in infrastructure through the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS). The program is responsible for repairing local roads and bridges through funds given to local municipalities.
CHIPS is essential to our local communities and withholding funding from them damages all aspects of our lives and economy, DiPietro said. CHIPS funding allows town and village governments to repair and maintain the roads we travel and depend on every day. I call for a doubling of the funding for CHIPS to $1 billion, its past due that we brought our roads and infrastructure into the modern world. I am immensely proud to join the outpouring of support to increase this funding, its been long overdue.
