DiPietro Warns of Bill Granting Illegal Aliens Driver’s Licenses

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) ) today announced that Assembly Majority politicians voted to give undocumented immigrants driver’s licenses. The bill, which passed the Assembly Transportation Committee today, is the first step on the road to giving illegals driver’s licenses and granting them the privileges of law-abiding citizens DiPietro is concerned about breaking federal law along with the implications of granting an official government document to an undocumented immigrant.

61% of New Yorkers oppose giving illegals driver’s licenses, and DiPietro believes the Assembly Majority politicians are abdicating the duty of the overwhelming majority of New Yorkers.

“This is another obscene bill by the Assembly majority to attack the rights of law-abiding citizens,” DiPietro said. “We’re a country of laws here; granting privileges to those who flout our laws and legitimize their crime is not something we should be focusing on. If we really wanted to help these people we’d clear the way for them to be citizens, but that’s not what the Majority politicians want. Why solve the problem when you can continue to create a class of people in the country reliant on you for handouts?”
