DiPietro Criticizes Extension of Curfews and Restrictions on Bars and Restaurants
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I- East Aurora) joined in support this morning of the Assembly Minority Conference’s virtual press conference with restaurant and bar owners to draw attention to their ongoing struggles caused by Gov. Cuomo’s executive orders extending curfews and restrictions on many small businesses.
Executive directives restricting operations at bars and restaurants remain in place, even as similar controls placed on places like pool halls, casinos, bowling alleys and fitness centers were lifted.
The press conference this morning was an opportunity to give bar and restaurant owners from across New York state a platform to remind lawmakers how their inaction and deference to the governor’s judgment continues to have detrimental consequences on their business and economic recovery from the pandemic.
“The Majority in the Legislature lied to the faces of New Yorkers when they told us they were removing our corrupt governor's extraordinary emergency powers. Even after their make-believe restoration of our constitutional separation of powers, he continues to extend and alter his nonsensical directives and orders,” said DiPietro.
“We have got to put an end to this. I have been saying for months that it was safe to open our businesses and schools, and science is overwhelmingly on our side. If we continue to allow our wannabe godfather of a governor to dictate how we go about our everyday lives and run our businesses, we will never get back to normal.”
