Assemblyman McDonough Offers ‘Natural Emergency Preparedness’ Brochure
Hurricane season has officially started and will run through November, and reports about the devastating effects of hurricanes already are appearing in the media.
To help residents prepare for hurricanes and other natural disasters, as well as what to do during and after emergencies, Assemblyman David G. McDonough is offering an important informational brochure, "Natural Emergency Preparedness."
"While Long Island is blessed with beautiful coastal waters, beaches and natural beauty, we do remain exposed to the unpredictable forces of nature that potentially endanger our loved ones and property, said Assemblyman McDonough. "No one can prevent natural disasters, but we can take steps to protect our families and ourselves. Knowing how to respond to hurricanes, floods, snowstorms and fires can prevent injuries and minimize property damage."
The brochure includes information about how to prepare disaster-supply kits and what to include for specific disasters, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms and blizzards. There’s also information about measures to take after natural disasters strike. The brochure lists telephone numbers of important agencies that can assist residents before, during and after natural disasters.
Residents may obtain copies of the Natural Emergency Preparedness brochure by calling Assemblyman McDonough’s district office in Levittown at (516) 731-8830 or by e-mail at mcdonod@assembly.state.ny.us.
