McDonough To Host Identity Theft Prevention Seminar
Event will educate attendees on how to prevent ID theft from happening to them and others
Assemblyman David McDonough (R, C, I – Merrick) is pleased to announce that he will be holding an event on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., which will focus on helping individuals prevent identity theft for themselves and their loved ones. The seminar will be held at the Wantagh Public Library located at 3285 Park Avenue in Wantagh.
“Identity theft has become an increasingly alarming problem in the United States due to thieves, hackers and other criminals being able to obtain private information,” said Assemblyman McDonough. “I believe this seminar will be very useful in helping those who are worried that they may become a victim of identity theft to prevent that from ever happening.”
Joining Assemblyman McDonough will be a representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office. Together, they will teach those who attend how to protect their mail and personal financial information by removing themselves from call registries, commercial mail and spam lists, as well as what to do if they should become a victim of identity theft.
