Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) has been named Chairman of the Assembly Minority Task Force on Public Safety by Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb. McDonough was honored with this appointment and is eager to begin working on several initiatives that will help make Long Island and all of New York State a safer place to raise a family and start a business. McDonough served in the United States Coast Guard and United States Air Force and acknowledges that a great deal of work lies ahead to further protect our community.

As Chairman of the Minority Task Force on Public Safety, McDonough will work on different projects including Homeland Security, Police, Law Enforcement, and the Courts, Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Services, Veterans and Military Personnel, Sex Offender Watch, and Workforce Issues in the Correctional System. McDonough plans on working with legislative colleagues from Long Island to develop local initiatives before taking them statewide.

“I am honored to be named Chairman of the Minority Task Force on Public Safety,” said McDonough. “New York State is in the midst of changing times, and it is important that we as a state are prepared to protect our safety and liberties both today and in the future. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Legislature to create and adopt measures that will do just that.”
