McDonough: Mixed Bag On One-House Budget Resolution
A Statement from Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) on the Assembly’s One-House Budget Resolution passed Wednesday
“Beside the fact that this budget resolution was crafted in secrecy by New York City elites, it prioritizes a radical political agenda that takes resources away from hard-working, legal Long Islanders and gives them to illegal aliens and criminals. Initiatives like the DREAM Act and Raise the Age do little to help our community and fly in the face of those who abide by our laws and are trying to pay for college the right way. The Assembly’s wish list also includes over $7 billion in tax increases and cuts to the local agriculture industry, which would devastate our local farmers.”
“On a brighter note, I do support the proposed clean water infrastructure plan and an increase in school aid, which will help fully fund our local schools. The Assembly has also prioritized making much-needed changes to the STAR Program and funding the wage gap for our direct-care workers. Expect me to remain vigilant as we approach a final state budget. I will fight for Long Island each day.”
