Assemblyman David Weprin Joins the River Fund of New York to Donate Over 1000 lbs. of Food

Richmond Hill, New York – On Friday, Assemblyman David Weprin joined New York River Fund Outcome & Expectations Coordinator Okeano Bell, Logistics Team Member Rakesh Sohanlall, and Logistics Team Member Rajendranand Basdeo to donate over 1000 lbs. of food gathered from the Assemblyman’s 2016 Winter Food Drive. Through a community wide effort from children, residents, & our neighborhood seniors; and support from the Thomas Edison High School, PS/IS 178, Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens, SNAP of Eastern Queens, and Bellerose Jewish Center; the Winter Food Drive netted over 1000 cans of soups, beans, vegetables, proteins, as well as a large collection of boxes of cereal & pasta. At the drop-off, volunteers from the River Fund New York and staffers from Assemblyman David Weprin’s Richmond Hill office loaded box after box of donated goods into a waiting truck, to be used at the River Fund New York’s food pantries.
