Parenting a Second Time Around

April 3, 2017

Dear Friends & Neighbors:

Raising children for the second time in one's life can come with its challenges, particularly for grandparents and kinship caregivers. When it comes to rewarding moments like this, I encourage you to take advantage of the Parenting A Second Time Around (PASTA) program, where you can utilize resources, and gain skills to support individuals with their loved ones. Orientation for this program kicks off on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:30am at 1224 Park Place, Brooklyn, NY 11213.

PASTA is a direct training program for grandparents or relative care givers to young ones. This national, award-winning program sponsored by the New York City Department of Aging consists of 10 sessions which help people learn parenting skills Parenting A Second Time Around and principles that work. Through your participation in this program, you can gain Metrocard assistance, a certificate of completion from Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC, and more. In addition, you are encouraged to attend group sessions held at Community Education Council 17 District Office at 1224 Park Place from April 24, 2017 to June 19, 2017.

You may gain more information on PASTA, by reaching out to Ms. V. Walters of Community Education Council 17 at 718-467-0800 Ext 1030.
