There are many obstacles to the recovery of New York’s economy post COVID:

What issues are impacting your community’s economy the most?

Certain sectors of the economy have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.Which sectors in your community have been most affected and what are their needs?

Are there any particular areas in your community that need special help to recover? And why?

Are there regulations or regulatory entities that are especially problematic to recovery. Do regulatory entities have the flexibility they need?

How do we ensure diversity, inclusion, and social equity are included in plans/recommendations to reopen the economy?

Funding:

We need to be creative in finding new funds and looking at leveraging existing funding streams to help reopen the economy.What suggestions do you have?

If funding is made available for future programs what types of programs should be considered?

Are there areas of infrastructure development that will encourage economic activities and jobs that you would prioritize?

How do you see investment in green and sustainable economy as part of a recovery plan?

COVID:

What COVID-19 protocols have businesses in your district implemented to reduce employees’ risk of exposure to COVID-19?

What other protocols could be implemented?

How do we ensure that entities are able to procure PPE in sufficient amounts and at affordable rates?

How do we ensure testing access when required for business opening?

Cross-cutting challenges:

How do you recommend increasing the internet presence of NYS businesses, especially small and local businesses?

Is there a lack of access to broadband and digital access?

What recommendations do you have to provide for adequate, affordable, and reliable childcare so that parents will be able to return to the workforce?

Once life begins to normalize, how do you suggest that the public be encouraged to re-engage in public activities like, eating in a restaurant, shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, and patronizing businesses?

How has the communication between the state, local governments, businesses, not-for-profits, and other entities been during the pandemic?

Workforce Development:

The workforce has been drastically altered by the pandemic and necessary response to ensure health and safety, what do you think are the critical workforce needs?

What obstacles are people facing that prevent them from going back to work?

As the economy reopens, will there be enough available skilled workers?

What kind of workforce skills and training will be necessary by sector?

With regards to affordability and accessibility, what are the challenges facing workers looking to upgrade their skill sets?
