Assemblymember Didi Barrett Secures $125,000 for the NorthEast-Millerton Library
Assemblymember Didi Barrett (D-Dutchess/Columbia) announced that she secured $125,000 for the NorthEast-Millerton Library. This funding will help the library make renovations and upgrades to the library’s annex building. Since acquiring this building in 2009, the library has hosted a wide range of community events there. The building has sustained wear and external damage in recent years, and this funding will help restore the annex to ensure community use for years to come.
“With threats to federal funding, it is critically important now more than ever that we actively support our beloved libraries,” said Assemblymember Barrett. “I am proud to secure this funding for the NorthEast-Millerton Library, which has long served as a hub for the community. This grant will help the library continue to play this important role for residents and visitors alike.”
“The Annex has become an important part of the library. From the home of the Senior Center, to community meetings, concerts, children's programs and more, it touches many individuals in the community,” said NorthEast-Millerton Library Director Rhiannon Leo-Jameson. “We are so grateful for Didi Barrett's support in securing the funds for the necessary renovations to the exterior of our building, so its appearance now reflects the good that goes on inside.”
