“I join US Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand in calling on the US Coast Guard to hold public hearings on the proposed establishment of ten new commercial anchorage sites along the Hudson River from Kingston to Yonkers.

“This proposal, which follows requests by several commercial organizations, stands to seriously and negatively impact our beautiful and treasured Hudson River and the surrounding communities -- including light and noise pollution, compounding the risk of spills, and irreparable damage to fish and wildlife. Further, it increases crude oil transport on and alongside the river at a time when our focus should be on renewable energy not facilitating petroleum use.
