Flood Sworn into Legislature Today, Ready to Work

Assemblyman Ed Flood (R,C-Port Jefferson) was sworn into the Legislature yesterday in Albany alongside 13 new Minority members of the conference.

Flood plans to focus on the importance of public safety by removing the cashless bail system so the judges are given back the power to make sentencing decisions for criminals. Flood supports term limits for legislators and wants to ensure politics and senseless mandates stay out of the classrooms at school.

“I want to thank the constituents of the 4th Assembly District. As a father of five kids, I took it upon myself to protect their future,” said Flood. “The future generations are who we as legislators should be fighting to protect to make it just a little bit easier for them later on in life. Let’s get to work.”

Prior to being an elected member of the Assembly, Flood worked as a chief of staff to Assemblyman Dean Murray and now owns his own law firm in Port Jefferson. Flood joins the most diverse Minority Assembly Conference in history with those such as Asian-American Assemblyman Lester Chang being elected to represent portions of Brooklyn.
