Assemblyman Braunstein Donates Hundreds of Gifts to Queens Veterans Through “Valentines for Vets” Drive
Queens, NY – On Thursday, Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) delivered hundreds of items generously donated through his office’s “Valentines for Vets” gift drive to hospitalized and disabled veterans at the St. Albans VA Community Living Center and the New York State Veterans’ Home at St. Albans. Braunstein was joined by NJROTC and Journalism students and faculty from Benjamin Cardozo High School, who lent a helping hand at the donation drop off and thanked the veterans for their service.
“Valentines for Vets is an important tradition that invites the local community to show gratitude to our veterans for their great sacrifices,” said Assemblyman Edward Braunstein.“I want to thank each and every Northeast Queens resident, organization, and school who donated and helped warm a local veteran’s heart, with special appreciation to the Cardozo High School students and faculty who assisted me and my staff with the transport and distribution of the gifts.”
The donations included greeting cards, candy, playing cards, puzzles, activity books, toiletries, and new clothing items, including shirts, pants, socks, and pajamas. Items were donated by Northeast Queens residents, Girl Scout Daisy Troop #4558 Flushing, Bayside Kiwanis, and several local schools.
The St. Albans VA Community Living Center provides comprehensive, 24/7 healthcare to local veterans. The New York State Veterans’ Home at St. Albans provides residential, nursing and rehabilitative care to elderly and chronically ill veterans and eligible family members.
