"Now we have an opportunity to petition a court – whether it's a family member, whether it's law enforcement, whether it's a school official – to have firearms taken away from individuals who exhibit this kind of behavior. This will make our communities safer," said Assemblyman Braunstein, discussing legislation he helped pass to allow courts to issue an extreme risk protection order (ERPO) and prohibit a person who is determined to be a threat to themselves or others from purchasing or possessing a firearm (A.2689).
