Mikulin Supports Increasing Border Security and Ending New York State’s Sanctuary Policies
March 13, 2025
Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C-Bethpage) supported his colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference to highlight the need for increased border security. Senate and Assembly Minority Conferences as well as Border Czar Tom Homan also promoted proposals aimed at restoring cooperation by state law enforcement with federal immigration authorities. These proposals included:
- Assembly Bill A.1528, which would exempt New York’s northern border counties from much of the state’s “Green Light Law”; and
- Assembly Bill A.2262, also known as “Laken’s Law,” which would restore cooperation by state law enforcement with federal immigration authorities.
“I support my colleagues in the Assembly and Senate Minority Conferences,” said Mikulin. “Cooperating with federal immigration authorities and strengthening security measures at the U.S. border will help keep our citizens safe.”
