Mikulin Honors WWII Veteran on 76th D-Day Anniversary

Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C,I-Bethpage) met with World War II veteran Tom Geist, and his wife, Joy along with several members of the veteran community on Saturday, June 6 in honor of the 76th anniversary of D-Day. Tom was a chaplain’s assistant during WWII. He served in the European theater during the war and also sat in on the Nuremberg trials. At the age of 95, he is the former commander and a current member of the Hempstead American Legion Post 390. He and his wife are approaching their 70th wedding anniversary.

“I was deeply humbled to get the opportunity to speak with and honor such a dedicated WWII veteran such as Mr. Geist,” said Mikulin. “It is important to remember and honor our history and those who played such a huge part in it whenever possible. I thank Mr. Geist for his service and dedication to our nation.”
