Lemondes Informs Residents About Disaster Relief Insurance
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C,I-Lafayette) is thrilled to announce his support for legislation that will provide more transparency to residents seeking disaster-relief insurance. This legislation will inform residents about the lack of flood damage coverage in standard homeowners insurance policies and provide residents with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) hotline and other relevant contact information, giving residents the opportunity to address any concerns (A.6367). Lemondes is pushing for this bill’s passage as the waters of Lake Ontario have risen to their highest levels in nearly 20 years.
“Imagine being told your standard home insurance failed to cover flood damage right after being hit by a natural disaster,” said Lemondes. “People living near the shore deserve to know whether or not their home insurance covers flood damage, and exactly who to contact to ensure they’re covered. We can’t wait for more people to endure loss to take action on this critical issue and help people secure the protection they need for their homes.”
