Lemondes to Host Press Conference on New York Agriculture
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) recently announced he will be hosting a press conference on Friday, July 7, 2023, to address the urgent needs of the farming and agriculture industry in New York State. At the press conference, Lemondes and others will advocate for changes to the Federal Farm Bill in order to ease the financial burden on farmers across the state, and for an increase in agricultural education in our schools.
“Agriculture is New York State’s largest industry and one of the key centerpieces of our economy. Despite this, our farmers are facing a three-prong attack. The minimum wage increases, H2-A wage requirements, and overtime pay regulations are stifling the growth of New York agriculture. This is all thanks to disconnected politicians in Albany and Washington who do not know the first thing about the industry yet want to regulate our farms to death. The current state of the Federal Farm Bill, along with the lack of education about this important industry, has put our farms in a challenging position. It is imperative we work to give farmers more financial flexibility and create an environment that will bring in the next generation of farmers and conservationists. As your assemblyman, I will continue to fight for our farmers and agriculture industry.”
