Lemondes Responds to Harvard President Resignation
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) recently commented on the resignation of Harvard University’s president, Claudine Gay, yesterday. Gay stepped down in light of recent comments she made in a congressional hearing where she refused to condemn antisemitism on college campuses. She is the second university president to resign since these hearings joining then-University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill. Lemondes is relieved to see that Gay has stepped down and is committed to ensuring that our schools and colleges are free from hate and antisemitism.
“The resignation of Harvard’s president today exposed a trend at our nation’s colleges and universities that has gone on for far too long,” said Lemondes. “Over the last several months, we have seen institutions of higher learning turn a blind eye to inexcusable acts of antisemitism on campuses across our nation. I’m glad to see these hateful influences are finally being pushed out, and I hope this will inspire change at other universities.”
