Lemondes Congratulates Student-Athletes at Section III Wrestling Finals
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) attended the Section III Wrestling Finals at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena this past weekend. Student-athletes from across the state competed in wrestling matches across two divisions early Saturday morning with 17 different schools competing in the event. Lemondes took the opportunity to congratulate the participants on their accomplishments and hard work this season. Lemondes is happy to have been able to attend this event and is proud to represent an area with such a rich history in the sport of wrestling.
“Wrestling has always been a hallmark of our community and I was proud to see the hard work and dedication these scholar-athletes put in pay off,” said Lemondes. “Events like this highlight the importance of making sure our schools have the resources they need to ensure students can have success both in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities. Sports like wrestling offer valuable life lessons these kids will take with them for the rest of their lives, and it is imperative these programs get the funding they need. I look forward to seeing this long-held tradition grow and I will continue to advocate for our schools in the state Capitol to make sure these programs remain alive and well.”
