Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) attended a press conference earlier this afternoon with his fellow members of the state Assembly to call for increased funding and access to child care services in New York. Lemondes and his colleagues are specifically calling for increasing the state Earned Income Tax Credit amount from 30% to 45% (A.9258), expanding collaboration between school districts and child care agencies (A.9128) and implementing a substitute child care database for child care providers in need of support. These proposals will help to increase access and affordability to child care programs across Central New York and save millions in taxpayer dollars. Lemondes believes these initiatives are a great first step in expanding child care access and is proud to stand with his colleagues in support of families.

“I was proud today to stand with my colleagues in the state Assembly to call for increased access to child care programs,” said Lemondes. “New York needs to equip parents with access to these resources, and that begins with a three-prong plan that includes expanding early childhood education, increasing affordability and creating tax incentives for providers and families. Child care is a necessity for families across Central New York, and I will continue to fight to make sure that these resources are accessible and affordable.”
