Lemondes Advocated for Increased Water Quality at Recent Hearing
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) took part in a hearing with the New York State Assembly’s Environmental Conservation Committee last week in Albany. The committee heard from multiple stakeholders on various initiatives related to environmental conservation and protection across the state. A focal point of Lemondes’ time in the Assembly has been his commitment to protecting Central New York’s water quality. Earlier this year, he secured a total of $3.5 million for the Finger Lakes-Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance (FLLOWPA) in the state budget. Lemondes was proud to be a part of today’s hearing and looks forward to continuing to support increased water quality for years to come.
“Water quality is one of the most critical issues we face in Central New York,” said Lemondes. “Without proper conservation, untreated water sources can become dangerous for individuals and severely impact local businesses in our region. This is why these hearings are so important. It is imperative for elected officials to listen to experts, examine the data on how to best address these issues and formulate common-sense policies that work for all New Yorkers. Today’s hearing was both informative and productive, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to further protect water quality throughout our state.”
