Jacobson Secures $23,000 Grant for Highland Fire Department to Purchase Protective Gear

Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-104) recently announced $23,000 in funding for the Highland Fire Department to purchase personal protective gear for their volunteer firefighters.

“I am proud to secure this funding for the Highland Fire District to pay for required firefighter bailout systems, which enable firefighters to climb out of a burning building,” Jacobson said.

Highland Fire Chief Peter Miller added, “We greatly appreciate the efforts of Assemblyman Jacobson in acquiring funding to repair our personal protection equipment that has aged out. We take pride in protecting our community and adhere to the industry standards of the National Fire Protection Association for personal protective equipment to ensure our firefighters are properly outfitted with the appropriate firefighting and safety gear.”

This grant supported the purchase of 36 bailout and harness systems, which are required for all interior firefighters.

“Volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line every time they fight a fire, and they save taxpayers huge sums of money,” Jacobson said. “We owe them a great deal of gratitude and support, and I am glad to supply the funding for this required equipment.”
