Jacobson Secures $25,000 to Fund Educational Programming at Howland Cultural Center
Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-104) recently announced a $25,000 grant to fund educational programming at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon.
Housed in a historic building that was originally a public library, the Howland is a nonprofit organization that hosts cultural events and educational programming throughout the year.
“The Howland Cultural Center isn’t just a local landmark. Since 1979, it’s been a space for the arts, unique performances, and children’s programs,” said Jacobson. “When I can bring money to local nonprofits like this, taxpayers get the biggest bang for their buck. There’s no bureaucracy and I know that Howland will put the money directly into its programs.”
“We’re always excited when Assemblyman Jacobson focuses attention on Beacon, because it results in good things,” said Beacon Mayor Lee Kyriacou, who joined Jacobson for the announcement. “This $25,000 will go a long way to helping Howland develop its programming.”
Howland President Theresa Kraft agreed, thanking the Assemblymember for his commitment to the organization: “Thanks to his trust and generosity, we are making a positive impact in our community and beyond.”
The funding will support several events at the Howland Cultural Center in the coming year, including children’s concerts, a mural project with Joe Pimentel, theater productions, and a workshop with Clearwater, among others. For more information, visit their Web site.
