New Outdoor Fitness Court Funded by Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and Senator James Skoufis Unveiled in Haverstraw

Rockland, NY – Today, elected officials and stakeholders in Haverstraw unveiled the completion of a new outdoor fitness court. The project, part of the National Fitness Campaign, was funded by $100,000 in state grant funds secured by Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and Senator James Skoufis.

“I’m excited to see this project officially opened to the public and look forward to seeing it utilized. This fitness court will give people more opportunities to get out and exercise, without the need for a gym membership. I thank Mayor Kohut, Haverstraw officials, and my colleague Senator Skoufis for working together on this project,” said Assembly Member Ken Zebrowski.

“The pandemic has shown us just how vital physical health and access to outdoor recreation are, and Haverstraw is doing a wonderful job of meeting both of those needs with this project.

As I said at the fitness court kickoff back in 2020, folks just want to see government work for them. The collaboration between Mayor Kohut, local and state officials, the National Fitness Campaign, and the Haverstraw community is a perfect example of government truly working for the benefit of our neighbors,” said Senator James Skoufis.

The new fitness court, located next to the Haverstraw Community Center, includes several workout stations and workout plans accessible through a QR code. Local fitness instructors will also serve as ambassadors to train residents on how to use the facility and conduct workout classes.
