Assemblyman Byrne Announces 2021 Summer Reading Challenge for Students in 94th District

Assemblyman Byrne is pleased to announce the start of his 2021 Summer Reading Challenge. This program is open to all elementary and middle school aged students in the 94th Assembly District and requires students to maintain daily logs demonstrating at least 15 minutes per day of reading for at least 30 days throughout the summer. It seeks to encourage and motivate students to continue the use of important critical thinking skills throughout long summer months they spend outside of school.

“I'm pleased to announce we will be continuing our annual summer reading challenge," said Byrne. “In past years, this program has been proven to be a successful way to get more of our young people engaged in reading throughout the summer months. I thank all our young students, their parents and teachers for their assistance in growing this initiative each and every year."

At the end of the summer, Assemblyman Byrne will host a celebration for students who completed their summer reading logs and honor them with certificates of achievement on behalf of the New York State Assembly.
