Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre Collects Over 2,000 “Valentines for Vets” Cards from Local School Children

In honor of our veterans on Valentine’s Day, Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre helped organize over 2,000 Valentines cards, from local elementary school students, as part of her “Valentines for Vets” program. In an effort to show love and gratitude to our veterans, Valentines cards were delivered to four local school districts: Amityville, Copiague, Lindenhurst, and Wyandanch. Children were then asked to color the cards and write a special note to a veteran. The cards were dropped off at the Long Island State Veterans Home located in Stony Brook, New York.

“Making these valentines cards is not only a great activity for students to understand and appreciate the sacrifices of our veterans and soldiers but is also a heartfelt approach at showing our veterans we care and are grateful of their service,” said Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre. “I wanted to make sure the veterans at Long Island Veterans Home were not forgotten, especially on Valentine’s Day. I am humbled by the amount of those who participated and would like to thank the teachers, administrators and most importantly the students for making this program such a success.”

Below is the list of elementary schools that participated in the program:

- Amityville – Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School

- Copiague – Great Neck Road Elementary School

- Lindenhurst – Daniel Street Elementary School

- Wyandanch – La Francis Hardiman Elementary School
